The CZE Edit: A Ritual-Focused Series from CZE Hair

Through thoughtful interviews, we explore personal rituals, daily routines, and hair care habits that ground and uplift—highlighting how our friends of the brand integrate CZE Hair into their everyday lives.

Each story offers a glimpse into real, relatable beauty and the moments that matter—from the products they swear by, to the practices that help them feel their most confident and at ease.

We recently caught up with Alex Stanworth-Brown—makeup artist, hairstylist, and mum—to talk about motherhood, work-life balance, and her go-to CZE Hair products.

In this edition of The CZE Edit, Alex shares how she navigates busy mornings, finds calm through daily rituals, and keeps her hair healthy and polished through postpartum changes. From soft, effortless styling to simplified routines, she’s proof that less really can be more.

Tell us what you do and what you love most about it.

I am a freelance makeup artist and hair stylist. I love the creativity and flexibility of my career along with meeting new people and going to amazing spaces and places.

What inspires your work or creativity right now?

Social media is a big one for following international artists and their work, especially ones that work with fashion houses and celebrities. Along with Pinterest, it has always been an essential for inspiration.

What does a typical morning look like for you?

My mornings are busy trying to get my daughter sorted for the day. I will give myself time to enjoy a coffee while she plays before applying a quick 10 min makeup and hair look. Also, I find choosing your hair, make up and outfit look the night before makes the next morning so much easier to get out the door quickly.

What’s one ritual in your day that makes you feel most grounded?

A walk to the beach or park with my family. Fresh air and nature do wonders.

What makes you feel most confident?

Feeling polished. A blow dry, dewy skin and blush makes me feel confident.

What’s one beauty or hair mantra you live by?

Less is more

What does “effortless beauty” mean to you?

Softness in application and styling. Products that enhance your skin or hair but don’t overpower or change the appearance drastically.

How has your hair changed since becoming a mother? (Have you experienced postpartum hair loss, texture changes, or noticed new hair needs?)

My PP hair journey has been WILD! I had significant hair loss which I was not prepared for. I had a lot of blonde through my hair at the time of birth so shortly after I made the decision to go darker and to really focus on my hair health. It’s grown a lot in length and thickened up so much thanks to growth products, CZE shampoo and conditioner along with a lot less heat/ colour dying. I’m so pleased it’s the healthiest it’s ever been now.

What does your current haircare routine look like, and how has it shifted since having a baby? (Are you finding ways to simplify or prioritize different products?)

Now I’m more time poor. I wash my hair twice a week. Always Sunday and Wednesday and I take the time to style it with my Dyson airwrap and add all the styling products that my hair loves. This helps me for busy mornings having it smooth and shiny.

What’s your go-to CZE product that fits into your new, busier routine? (And how does it help you feel put together even on the busiest days?)

The reality of having a baby or young child is my hair is now up 90% of the time so it’s out of my face and away from little hands. I'm obsessed with the Style Defining Crème for a sleek bun or pony. It’s polished, effortless and easy!
